Montfort-l'Amaury €275

Like all of our tours this tour will show you the lovely countryside and small villages not far from Paris. We start our tour in the tiny village of Tacoignières and cycle through several more anonymous little villages and some pretty countryside before we arrive in the charming medieval town of Montfort-l'Amaury. This is a lovely and lively little medieval town with narrow, cobbled streets and lots of local stores, cafés and restaurants and is the highlight of this tour. This tour is a fairly easy ride on flat to gently rolling terrain and the tour distance is only 24km. I have allowed a touring time of 4 hours and 7 minutes to complete this tour but it is possible to complete this tour in under 3 hours if you cycle at a moderate pace. This touring time will allow you time to stop and buy picnic lunch supplies and have a little picnic. Since we start the tour cycling through tiny villages with little or no commerce before arriving in Montfort-l'Amaury then your picnic lunch supplies would be purchased in Montfort-l'Amaury, where you would also eat your picnic lunch. Or, you may want to just buy some pastries/snacks from a boulangerie and after taking a short time to eat your tasty treats you may want to get off the bikes and stroll around town and window shop (or do some actual shopping). So if there is remaining tour time to use up before we have to leave town and cycle to the train station you'll have options to choose from. The choice will be yours to spend your time as you wish.

If you can cycle at a reasonable pace then there may be time to dine in one of the restaurants in Montfort-l'Amaury as opposed to having a picnic lunch. Note that neither the cost of the restaurant nor the picnic lunch supplies are included in the tour cost. Tour participants pay for their own picnic lunch or restaurant costs. To dine in a restaurant it is recommended that we arrive in Montfort-l'Amaury at least two hours prior to our scheduled train departure. It is only 18km from the tour start in Tacoignières until we arrive in Montfort-l'Amaury so it is not unreasonable that this would be feasible. If you would like to dine at a restaurant and this results in exceeding the standard tour time of 4 hours and 7 minutes then there is a supplemental fee of €35 per hour of additional touring time. There are trains departing from Montfort every hour.

I have not dined in any of the restaurants in Montfort-l'Amaury so can not give you any restaurant recommendations. However, you can try researching on google using phrases like ''restaurants Montfort-l'Amaury'' and browse the results that search will yield. Based on my own observations cycling around town there seemed to be a little over a half dozen restaurants in town.
