Bike Tour to Vaux-le-Vicomte
The tour starts in the town of Melun, once a seat of power for the kings of France.
Leaving Melun we enter the countryside and pass through a charming small village on the way to the château of Vaux-le-Vicomte.
One of the most beautiful châteaux in France, the history of Vaux-le-Vicomte and its ill-fated owner is the stuff of Greek tragedy. Vaux-le-Vicomte is considered to be one of the most beautiful château in all of France. Louis XIV modeled the gardens at Versailles after those of this beautiful château.
Continuing on from our château visit we'll ride through more countryside and see a number of charming villages including one that has a medieval fortress complete with walls, towers and a dry moat.
We'll also bike through the vast agricultural plain of the Brie region between villages. This ride is a great combination of interesting sites, charming villages and pleasant, agricultural countryside.
